Mark Campbell Mooney, 57, of Hummelstown, was called home to God on Monday, February 16, 2015, after a courageous journey with cancer.
Mark was born in Albany, NY, and received his Bachelors degree in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He came to Central Pennsylvania in 1980, and worked as an Industrial Engineer with The Hershey Company for 22 years. Mark was an active and dedicated community volunteer, serving eight years on the Derry Township School Board, participating in the Hershey Kiwanis Club, and supporting various local political efforts. Mark was a lifelong learner, avid golfer, and competitive athlete who completed three marathons. He especially enjoyed sharing the beauty of nature on long walks with his wife. Mark will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, caring brother, proud father and grandfather, and a loyal friend. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Kathleen Mooney, and his brother, Michael Mooney. Mark is survived by his wife of 31 years, Pat Mooney; his daughter Jacqui (Nick) Fanelli; his grand-daughter Madeline Fanelli; his son Paul Mooney; his sister Christine (Scott) Pollock of Carver, Massachusetts; his sister Maureen (Carl) Macri of Selkirk, New York; many extended family, dear friends, and cherished neighbors. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Saturday, February 21, 2015 in the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey. Visitation will be held at the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Route 422 & Lucy Avenue, Hershey, on Friday evening, February 20th, from 5:00PM - 7:00PM and also Saturday morning, February 21st, from 9:30AM - 10:30AM. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church HOPE Fund 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey, PA, 17033. It is with much sadness we announce that our Mother, Amalia A. Capobianco Marzullo, 84, of Hummelstown, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
Born in Italy on September 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Cosimo and Gaetana Ziccardi Capobianco. Amalia, a woman of many talents was passionate about life and living it. She was extremely patriotic and appreciative of everything America offered to her as a first generation immigrant. Amalia was a devoted member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey. Most precious to Amalia was her family and friends; no one was ever a stranger to her. She was loving, caring, and thoughtful to everyone she met; and, her charismatic personality quite drew people to her. The children of her neighborhood knew her as Nonna, while the adults were her friends or as she often referred to them "like a son or daughter". Amalia was dedicated to her home, she liked to crochet and make blankets for many as special gifts. She had a true joy for cooking and baking homemade, and she would love to share her delicious goods with everyone. For many years, Amalia was an active member of the Areba Club where she loved to socialize with members at luncheons, travel to many places and attend spiritual journeys locally and abroad. She lived a unique and vibrant life, and will be truly missed by her family and all who knew her. Amalia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Giovanni "John" Marzullo; a sister, Tina Hardiman; and an infant brother, Giuseppe Capobianco. She is survived by her two daughters, Phyllis A. Lindquist wife of James F. of Hummelstown and Giovanna "Joanne" A. Marzullo-Manez wife of Raymond P. of Long Island, NY; her four grandchildren, Christopher John Lindquist husband of Nicole, Lisa M. Eisenhauer, Samantha J. Garrone wife of Brendan, and Emily R. Manez; her five siblings, Nicola Capobianco husband of Anna of Switzerland, Rosa Pala wife of Mario of Italy, Maria Spagnuolo of New Jersey, wife of the late Giuseppe, Antonio Capobianco husband of Oili of Finland, and Gastone Capobianco husband of Carmelina of New Jersey; and her four great grandchildren, Mia Joy Eisenhauer, Maxwell Eisenhauer, Alexa Lindquist, and Brayden Lindquist who all brought sunshine to her life. Amalia also has an Aunt, Zia Rosinella, in Italy; 16 nieces and nephews here abroad and many cousins that she has remained in touch with over the years. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 20, 2015, at 11 AM in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, with The Rev. Fr. Brian J. Wayne from St. Patrick's in Carlisle as celebrant. Friends will be received for the viewing Thursday, February 19, 2015, from 4 to 8 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery & Mausoleum, Colonia, NJ on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 1 PM. He was born in Chicago, IL in 1933, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Hein. He grew up in Kansas City, MO.
Dick served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, KS, and obtained a Master's degree in Retailing from the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating, he worked for the US Navy in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba before moving to Columbus, OH in 1962 where he began a successful career with Lazarus Department Stores. The family moved to Camp Hill in 1973. He retired from York Distribution Center, York, PA in 1983. Dick delighted in taking care of his family and all of those around him. He especially enjoyed having his grandchildren visit and kept the basement full of beds for everyone to have a place to stay when they visited. He traveled extensively for work and pleasure. In retirement, he enjoyed family trips. He was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church in Hershey. Dick is survived by his wife, Bernadette Dufour Hein, his six children: Greg of Woodbridge, VA; Eric of Charlotte, NC; Denise Bailey of Dunn Loring, VA; Christine Pihl of Seattle, WA; Theresa Rava of Irvine, CA; and Dr. Jeanne Thurber of Hooksett, NH; twelve grandchildren, and a sister, Margie Hein of Shawnee Mission, KS. He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Saturday, February 14th at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033. Born in South Fork, PA, on January 3, 1943, he was the son of the late Joseph Edward Bouch and Jean Rhoads Bouch. Jim was a co-owner, with his late wife Darlene, of Keystone Artificial Limb & Orthopedics, Harrisburg. He was also previously employed by Hanger Orthopedic Group, Camp Hill, and the former Teufal Orthopedic & Prosthetic, Elizabethtown. He was a 1960 graduate of South Fork Croyle High School. He was an US Navy veteran having served during Vietnam era. Jim was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey. He was a member of the Hummelstown Baseball Association, a former member of the Hummelstown Lions Club, and a member of the American Board of Certification of Orthotists & Prosthetists. Jim enjoyed woodworking and golf, but loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Darlene Vadella Bouch on April 29, 2014; and two sisters, Martha Fatula and Shirley Bishop. Jim is survived by his two daughters, Mary Beth Moser and Katherine A. Buohl both of Middletown, MD; a son, James Joseph Bouch husband of Christine of Hummelstown; a brother, Boyd Bouch husband of Dawn of Portage; and six grandchildren, Douglas Williams, Sarah Buohl, Elizabeth Buohl, Angela Bouch, Abigail Moser, and Anna Moser. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 9, 2015, at 11 AM in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, with The Rev. Fr. Philip G. Burger as celebrant. Celia was born on March 26 1953 in Hershey and was the daughter of Erma (D'Eramo) Bender Wall of Hershey and the late Kenneth W Bender.
She is survived by her four children: Loretta Bender, Adelina Lindsay, Willie Lindsay & Antionique Mills all of Harrisburg and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Patricia Bender of Houston TX, Susan Bender Spayd of Lancaster, Kenneth C Bender of Wellington FL and Catherine Bender Hannan of Middletown. Celia is a graduate of St Joan of Arc Catholic School, class of 1967 and Hershey High School, class of 1971. She retired from Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Harrisburg. Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 2nd, in the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey. Friends will be received following the mass. Leonard, Sr., 84, of the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home in Palmyra, and formerly of Hershey, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015.
Born July 2, 1930, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a son of the late John and Lavina (Blaser) Leonard. Mr. Leonard was an Air Force Veteran during the Korean Conflict; retired employee of the Hershey Foods Corporation, member and Eucharistic Minister of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey; and had also been an avid tennis player. He was the widower of Jean B. Leonard and is survived by his sons: James B. Jr., of Hummelstown; Thomas (Julie) of Lakewood, CO; Paul (Pamela) of Hummelstown; Patrick Tonya) of Hershey; Michael (Diane) of Hershey; daughter, Jeannie Schiavo of Palmyra; 12 grandchildren & 1 great grandson; numerous nieces & nephews; brother, Robert Leonard of NJ; sister, Lavina Garrett of MN. He was preceded in death by his brothers George & Jack Leonard. Visitation will be held Monday, January 26th from 5pm-8pm with recitation of the Rosary at 4:45 pm in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Hershey. He was born November 1, 1923, in Hershey, son of the late Evangelisto and Rosie Casantini of Italy. Joe was a retired Federal employee and former golf pro at the Hotel Hershey. He was a graduate of Hershey High School and served during WWII in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946. Joe was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, and was a member of the Hershey Italian Lodge. He lived in Hershey all of his life and was well-known to many in the community. He especially loved golf, traveling, visiting friends, good food and helping those in need. Closest surviving family is his long-time partner of 37 years, Gertrude Roeder of Hershey and nephew Dr. Rocco Manfredi of Carlisle plus many other nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers. A devoted father, grandfather, husband and son, John was born October 5, 1942 in New York, NY, the son of the late James and Eleanor (Garrett) Beatty. John earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from St. John's University in New York and retired after an accomplished teaching career at Three Village Central School District in Stony Brook, NY. He was an avid traveler and a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey. Committed to serving others, John volunteered for AmeriCorp VISTA three separate times. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Jean (Wolf) Beatty; sons, Christian Beatty and his wife Maile, and Aron Beatty and his wife Diana; daughter, Jeanine Beatty-Chadha and her husband Devesh; four grandchildren, Kaia, Lena, Samuel and Leo Beatty. A visitation will be held Friday, January 23, 2015, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 5:45 pm in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. in Hershey. Born in Pottsville on October 2, 1954, she was the daughter of Agnes Parulis Jaglas of Hummelstown and the late Daniel J. Jaglas. Cindy was a former administrative assistant for the M.S. Hershey Medical Center and the former AMP, Inc. She was a 1972 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, Hummelstown. Cindy attended St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey. She was an avid shopper and enjoyed watching sports; especially Penn State football, the Eagles and the Phillies. Cindy's greatest love was her family and she will be dearly missed by them. In addition to her mother, Agnes, Cindy is survived by her beloved cousins, Sandra Arner, Gail Bedford, Lynn Barber, Thomas Barber, and William Parulis. She was born February 24, 1924 in Girardville, PA, a daughter of the late Charles and Dora (Nojunis) Gelbuda. Mrs. Whalen was very proud of her Lithuanian heritage and her participation with the organization committee of the former 17th Airborne Division Co. C reunion. She retired as a waitress from the Hershey Hotel and along with her late husband owned and operated the former Palm Motel in Hershey. She was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey and the Hershey Italian Lodge. Surviving are sons; William J., Jr., Ronald S., Charles P., and Robert R. Whalen; sister, Adele (Gelbuda) Sokolowski. Grandsons; David, Jeffrey(Anne), and Matthew Whalen. Granddaughters: Nikki Whalen (Dennis) Gipe; Jacqui Whalen (Chris) Sparrow; Marcia Whalen (Andrew) Ralph; Mauree Whalen (Jason) Shott; Leah Whalen (Seth) Wentz, and Leah, Matthew & Mauree's mother, Marcia Whalen. Also surviving are 7 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Whalen, Sr. and 3 brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 11:00 am in her church at 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Visitation will be in the church from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to the Heart of the Parish Fund, c/o St. Joan of Arc Church, 359 W.
