Dorothy M. Goldsmith, 98, of Hershey, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away on May 28, 2019 in Country Meadows of Hershey. She was born December 3, 1920 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Eli and Dorothy (Cox) Massick and was the wife of the late Edwin B. Goldsmith. Dorothy graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School and devoted her life to raising her family.
Dorothy is survived by: son, James (and wife Sheila) Goldsmith; daughter, Margaret (and husband Robert Devlin Jr.); grandchildren, Matthew and Douglas Goldsmith and great grandchildren, Quincy, Camila and Gina Jolene Goldsmith. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter Audrey Goldsmith. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 6 at 11AM in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests at 10:30AM. Private interment will take place in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Pittsburgh. David Andrew Pegher, 47, of Hummelstown, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Hershey Medical Center. Born Tuesday, May 27, 1971 in Okinowa, Japan, he was the son of David J. and Rachael (Radakovic) Pegher of Pittsburgh. He was married 21 years to Kimberly M. (Lotts) Pegher.
David graduated from Central Catholic High School, earned a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and his teaching certification from Chatham College. He had his M.Ed. from Wilkes University. David was a third grade teacher for 23 years. As an Artist in Residence at Transitional Infant Care in Pittsburgh, he published the National Journal of NursingAward-Winning book, Baby Hands & Baby Feet. David was an active volunteer with the Hummelstown Swim Team and the Lebanon Valley Otters Swim Teams, as well as at church and anywhere he could lend a hand. In addition to his wife, David is survived by two children, Mia and Jacob Pegher; two brothers: Christopher Pegher and wife Laura of Mt. Vernon, VA; Matthew Pegher and wife Sylvia Kolibal of Sparta, NJ and two sisters: Jennifer Tallant and husband David of Hagerstown, MD and Julie Tanouye and husband Shane of Pittsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033 at 10:00 AM. Viewing will be held Friday at Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 25 West Pine Street, Palmyra, PA 17078 from 4:30-7:30 PM. Interment will be in Hershey Cemetery. Pegher Memorial Benefit Fund at https://sites.google.com/view/davidapeghermemorialfund/home Memories and condolences may be shared at www.FinkenbinderFamily.com Richard “Dick” William Deiling, 86, of Hershey, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late William and Mary Monks Deiling on October 21, 1932 in Keokuk, Iowa. Dick attended St. Paul’s Catholic School in Burlington Iowa, class of 1951, where he met the love of his life, Lois. They were married on May 10, 1952 and would spend the next five decades raising their nine children and traveling the world visiting friends and family.
Dick served as a corporal in the United States Army in the 28th and 9th infantry divisions from 1952 until 1954. After leaving the army, he attended South East Iowa Business College, graduating in 1957 as an accountant. He spent his entire career at Univar Corporation, formerly McKesson Chemical and Van Waters & Rogers, retiring as a National Account Sales Manager. He was a long time member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish in Hershey. He was actively involved in many ministries in the church, including Eucharistic minister, finance committee, parish council, and Knights of Columbus. Above all Dick was a family man - a beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed family celebrations, travel, playing games, picnics, hikes, golf, and spending time with the people he loved. He had an endless curiosity for gadgets, his family heritage, and photography. Everyone sought his advice on the latest in cutting edge technology. Dick is predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Lois K. “Robinson” Deiling and is survived by his nine children. Sons: Michael (Sue), Pat (Angie), Tom (Jennifer), Robert (Pam), Brian (Sharon). Daughters: Joan (Walter) Lepore, Lora (Mark) Rogers, Nancy (Robert) Kirk, Linda (Scott) Bidding. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his seventeen grandchildren: Amy (Tony) Mason, Tony Rivera, Tim and Chelly Deiling, Katie and Andy (Allie) Rogers, Kelly and Reilly Kirk, Jackie and Steve Lepore, Carolyn, Lauren, Owen, and Aiden Bidding, Veronica and William Deiling, and Ian Deiling. Dick will forever be remembered for his strong faith in God, love of family and friends, and endless generosity. A recitation of the Rosary with Visitation to follow will be held on Thursday, May 23, 5:30pm-8:00pm at the Hoover Funeral Home in Hershey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 24, 11:00am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey. Interment will follow at the Hershey Cemetery. She was born March 11, 1927 in Carbondale, daughter of the late Edward and Anna Burns.
She was a faithful member of St. Joan of Arc Church of Hershey. Margaret was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, devoting her life to raising her family. She is survived by 4 Sons: John, Jr. and wife Diane, Robert R. and wife Clarisse, Edward L. and wife Erin, Kevin J. and wife Ruth; 3 daughters: Carol and husband Thomas Hand, Mary Lou and husband Fran Kulbacki, and Colleen Mummert; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John J. Burke; an infant daughter, Ann; and sisters, Dorothy Blair and Ann Mizianty. A visitation will be held in the Hoover Funeral Home of Hershey on Monday, April 29 from 10 - 11:30AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 12 Noon in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Donovan, 88, of Hershey, PA, passed away on April 10, 2019. He was born December 19, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late William and Agnes (Holzwarth) Donovan.
Richard was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and served in the Army as a Military Police Officer. He retired from New York Air Brake, Inc. He was a lifelong usher and greeter at every parish he attended. Richard was a member of the Areba Club in Hershey and a 4th Degree Knight at Our Lady Star of the Sea K.O.C Council #7122, Myrtle Beach, SC. He was also an avid golfer. Survived by his wife, Carol Jean (Alauzen) Donovan; 4 children, Michele Bachman of Elizabethtown, Bryan (Lisa) Donovan of Hudson, NH, Rebecca (David) Doherty of Thief River Falls, MN and Mary Ellen Fiorentino of Webster, NY; 9 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ruth McGill and Nora Gordon both of Pittsburgh. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 1:00 pm with a visitation beginning at 12:30pm in the St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033. Date of Death – April 9, 2019 Sister Mary Helen Scicchitano, a member of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, Villa Rossello, Newfield, NJ, went to her eternal rest on April 9, at Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, York, PA where she had been a resident for several years. Sister Helen, born in Mt. Carmel, PA, was the daughter of the late Carmen and Catherine Scicchitano of Mt. Carmel, PA. She entered the Congregation of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, in York, PA on January 7, 1949 and professed her Vows on August 16, 1950 at Villa Rossello, Newfield, NJ. Sister Helen earned a BS in Elementary Education from College Misericordia, Dallas, PA and an MA in Secondary Education from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ. She taught for many years in elementary schools administered by the religious order in Milford MA, Hazleton, Hershey, Steelton, Old Forge, PA, and served as principal at St. Peter’s, Elizabethtown, PA for a few years. She also taught in Brigantine and Vineland, NJ, and then at Our Lady of Mercy Academy, located at the order’s Provincialate, Newfield, NJ. In later years Sister Helen ministered as Academic Counselor at Harrisburg Area Community College. Dedicated to her religious vocation and to the ministry of education, Sister Helen touched the lives of countless numbers of children and youth at the elementary and high school level, and then in her ministry to college students. In addition to her parents, Sister Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, Carmen and Dr. David Scicchitano, and by her sisters Toni Gearhart and Marian Ehrlacker. She is survived by a loving multitude of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and also by her religious community, the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a viewing from 2:00 to 3:00 with a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Chapel, York, PA on Friday afternoon. The Mass of Christian Burial will be take place at the order’s Provincial House, Villa Rossello, Newfield, NJ, on Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Pietà Cemetery on the grounds of Villa Rossello. Prior to the Mass a Visitation will take place in the Chapel from 10:00 until just before Mass at 11:00 AM. Fetrow, 78, of Palmyra, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at home. Born Wednesday, February 19, 1941 in Ashland, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bryan and Anna Balutis. She was the loving wife of Lowell E. Fetrow, Jr. for 57 years.
Lorraine was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey, and previously served as a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Palmyra. She retired from AMP, Inc. in Harrisburg where she worked as a lab technician. She also worked for the American Heart Association in Linglestown and the Central PA Blood Bank in Harrisburg. Lorraine was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking. She loved animals, particularly dogs, and enjoyed reading her Bible. In addition to her husband Lowell, she is survived by two sons: Micheal B. Fetrow and wife Nikki of Milton, PA and David L. Fetrow of Harrisburg; five grandchildren: Chris (Colleen), Lauren, Zach, Jessica and Ben; as well as a great granddaughter due in April. Lorraine was predeceased by a twin brother Ronald Balutis and brother Joseph Balutis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033 at 11:00 AM. There will be no viewing. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Until the time of service. Interment will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Theresa M. McLaughlin, 63, of Hershey, passed away on March 27, 2019.
She was born November 11, 1955 in Harrisburg, daughter of Helen (Halko) Koslosky and the late Dr. Francis Koslosky. In addition to her mother, she is survived by sister, Kathryn Koslosky and brother, Robert F. Koslosky. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Michael L. Koslosky. He was born January 21, 1949 in Harrisburg, son of the late Joseph and Sophia (Basulto) Caloiero. Joe recently retired from the Penn State Hershey Medical Center where he was a psychotherapist. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the U.S. Army Reserves. He loved music and was a professional musician for 55 years, playing bass and singing vocals. Joe is survived by his wife, Vicki Ann (Pasquini) Caloiero of Hershey; son, Joseph (Katie) Caloiero of Franklin, TN; son, Vincent (Erica) Caloiero of Shelburne, VT; son, John-Paul Caloiero of Philadelphia; granddaughters, Lilia and Evie Caloiero of Shelburne, VT; brother, Richard (Cheryl) Caloiero of Hershey; aunt, Josephine Barnes of Harrisburg; nephews and nieces(Vincent & Nicholas Pasquini and Richard & Leigh Caloiero); and his beloved Maremma Sheepdog Tessa. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey. McRedmond, 77, of Hummelstown, PA, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed quietly on Saturday, March 16, 2019, in the care of Masonic Village Hospice after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 22, 1942, he was the son of the late James and Mary Cronin McRedmond. Bob retired as the previous co-owner of Handyman Matters, Hummelstown; was Past President of Advanced Supplies, Middletown; a manager for the Olivetti Corporation; and worked at the New York Stock Exchange. He was a 1960 graduate of Brooklyn Preparatory High School and attended Brooklyn College both of New York City. Bob was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church. Bob served as Judge of Elections in Derry Township; was former Vice President and Webmaster for the Hummelstown Business & Professional Association; and member of the Hershey Partnership and Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce. He was Past President of the Advisory Board for the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Bob was also a volunteer at the Medical Center for 7 years with 2,800 hours of service. He was a member of the Harrisburg-Snyder Lodge #629, F&AM, where he held several Officer positions; and a member of Perserverance Lodge #21, F&AM, The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg, as well as several bodies in the York Rite. He loved to read, and especially to spend time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, RoseAnn DiFede McRedmond, whom he married on May 19, 1968; two sons, Joseph P. McRedmond husband of Allison of Oella, MD, and Michael T. McRedmond of Middletown; one daughter, Erin M. Woods wife of Bill of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Liam, Charlie, Ben and Lillian; one sister Helen Butler of Orem, UT; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Barrera, and two brothers, Frank McRedmond and James McRedmond. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 25, 2019, at 11:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, with The Rev. Fr. Kenneth C. Roth as celebrant. Interment with military honors will be held in the Hershey Cemetery. Friends are invited to the viewings on Sunday, March 24, 2019, from 6 to 7:45 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, and in the church on Monday from 10 to 10:45 AM. Prayers will be recited Sunday in the funeral at 5:45 PM. The Masonic funeral service will also be held Sunday at 7:45 PM in the funeral home.
