Richard J. DeAngelis, 92, of Hershey, passed away on June 2, 2017 in Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon.
He was born in Hershey, on January 2, 1925, son of the late Domenico and Genueffa (Quaglia) DeAngelis. Richard graduated from Hershey High School in 1942, then worked in Pearl Harbor for the U.S. Navy as a civilian machinist supporting repairs of battleships and aircraft. After the war, he was a machinist at the Air Force base in Middletown and a school bus driver before operating DeAngelis Restaurant in Hershey (est. 1935), with his brother Sam, until its sale in 1989 to the Fenice family. He was also co-owner of Mazzoli Ice Cream for several years. Richard was an excellent roller-skater, built the best model airplanes and go-karts, could repair anything, and was a legendary joke-teller. Ever a friend to the duct-tape industry, he also personified thrifty creativity by making countertop stands to hang bananas (now sold everywhere), drying racks for zipper-lock bags, and soda-can whirligigs. He was a devout Catholic and sang in the St Joan of Arc Choir for 70 years, retiring in 2016. He was a member of the St Joan of Arc Catholic Church & their Areba Club and the U.S. Air Force Association, and served the Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association as a State Licensing Instructor. Richard is survived by four sons: Thomas DeAngelis and Robert DeAngelis of Hershey, Jon DeAngelis of Chatham, NJ, Richard DeAngelis, Jr. of West Chester; and five daughters: Virginia Vernet of Mt. Gretna, Therese DeAngelis of Yardley, Ann Refford and Rita DeAngelis, both of Hershey, and Gina DeAngelis Bianco of Williamsburg, VA; eleven grandchildren: Richard, Joseph, Elizabeth, Marie, Bernadette and Audrey DeAngelis, Christine Houser, Kim and Bruce Vernet, Jr., and Dominic and Eli Bianco; one great grandchild, Luke Houser, brother, Sam, 94; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, his wife of 61 years, Jean (Guardiani) DeAngelis, and one daughter, Marie L. DeAngelis, preceded him in death. A visitation will be held Thursday June 8, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM (rosary at 6 PM) & Friday June 9 from 9:30 - 10:30 AM, in the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory of Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 9 at 11:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church, 359 West Areba Ave, Hershey. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. Deloris (Rossi) Yoter Summers, 85, of Palmyra, PA, died peacefully Saturday, June 3, 2017, at The Gardens of Palmyra.
She was born in Hershey, PA on April 29, 1932 to the late Louis and Evelyn (Powell) Rossi. She is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Robert Yoter, Sr., and her sisters Betty Barrett and Virginia Startoni. She is survived by her husband, Charles Summers of Palmyra, and her children Bonnie Reifsnyder (Robert, Sr.), Hershey, PA, Robert Yoter, Jr., Hope, Alaska, Linda Cooper, Southampton, PA, Richard Yoter (Elena), Hope, Alaska, Dianna Sherman (Josh), Hatboro, PA, and a step-son, Dale Summers (Linda) of Palmyra, PA; her sisters June Corrado,of Harrisburg, PA and Dianna Bowman, of Huntingdon, PA; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the Women's Committee in Hershey and was also a member of the Hershey Italian Lodge. She retired from Hershey Foods where she was a lab technician. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 8, 2017, at St. Joan of Arc Church, 359 W. Hershey Medical Center.
He was born March 20, 1943 in Canton, OH, son of Roscoe Murphy and Marjorie Quigley. Patrick graduated from Altoona HS '61 and received his BS in Business Logistics from Penn State University '65, and retired as a Director for the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration for Pennsylvania; a U.S. Army Reservist; and was a member of Penn State Alumni Association. Patrick is survived by; wife, Johannah (Gustafson) Quigley of Hershey whom he married in August 1969; daughter, Tricia M. Koos and her husband Phil; grandsons, Ryan P. & Noah C. Koos; and a brother, Michael (Patty) Quigley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Colin M. Koos. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 11AM in the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Route 422 & Lucy Ave. Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests at 10 AM. She was born January 28, 1924 in Hershey, daughter of the late Nicola and Luigina (Carlucceti) Paponetti. Nilda graduated from Hershey High School class of 1941. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and their Council of Catholic Women. She was also a former volunteer at the Hope Lodge in Hershey since its opening in 1988 until 2000 and an elected official for 20 years at Election Polls in Hershey as well. Nilda is survived by 3 sons, Richard P. (Jeanne Galassi) Bonfanti, Jr. of Lebanon, Nicholas P. (Susan Bucciarelli) Bonfanti, Sr. of Harrisburg, and Joseph F. (Lisa Davis) Bonfanti of Palmyra; grandson, Nicholas P. (Rachel Parrish) Bonfanti, Jr.; granddaughters, Adele (Cameron) Cole, Cara (Dan) Shaffer, and Elizabeth Bonfanti; sister, Norma Baiocchi (Richard) of Hershey; sister-in-law, Louise Hostetter of Cornwall; three great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Bonfanti, Sr. in 2006 and 5 sisters & 1 brother. Doug was a graduate of Dauphin County Vo‑Tech and was a US Army Veteran. He was a self employed mason who owned and operated Pyramid Concrete and Coatings. Doug's passion was Beech Island life with his family,dogs,Smoke & Sylas, and his extended river family. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, hunting & fishing. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Lisa M. (Julian) Shenfeld of Bainbridge; sons, Joshua Douglas Shenfeld and his wife Elizabeth of Linglestown and Dylan Michael Shenfeld of Bainbridge; Brothers, Dwain & Dana; sisters, Diane & Donna. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria (Lalli) Shenfeld and sister, Karen May. Visitation will be Monday, May 1st from 10:00am until 11:00am immediately followed by a funeral service in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory,Inc. in Hershey. Interment will be private. He was born April 17, 1985 in Harrisburg, son of Kyle and Judy (Marcucci) Pritchett. Matt was a graduate of Hershey High School and had been employed as a General Contractor and Plumber. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, the Palmyra Sportsman Club, and the Hershey American Legion.
Matt is survived by his parents; his sister, Krystin Sweeney & brother-in-law Emneko Sweeney; nephews Taylor, Marcus & Cameron Sweeney of Hershey; his girlfriend, Shadan Shahswar, and her daughter, Bella of York; maternal grandfather, Pete Marcucci , Uncle John Marcucci and wife, Gina all of Hershey; and cousins, Gordon, Lewis and Carmen Marcucci along with many other relatives and friends. Matt was a car enthusiast, loved BMW’s, a gun collector & excellent cook. Matt was devoted to his family and faith, and had a heart of gold. He gave of himself and was a true friend to many. Matt was adored by his family and will be missed beyond words. Susan was born on September 24, 1956 to parents Rosemary and Nicholas. She graduated from Archbishop John Carroll in Radnor, PA and attended Duquesne University and Villanova University, graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Villanova. She was born June 10, 1937 in Altoona, PA, daughter of the late William and Madeline (Stoy) Richards. Nancy was a graduate of Harrisburg Catholic High School. She was a retired Administrative Officer with the Bureau of Information Systems for the Department of Education. She was also a former President & member of the State Employees Recreation Assoc. Mrs. Stewart was a current member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey and a former member of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Harrisburg and St. Ann's Parish in Bethany Beach, DE, where she was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and Lector. She was also a member of the Areba Club, the Derry Twp. Historical Society Travel Committee; former member of the Ocean View Leisure Center; a very proud former Queen Mother of the Ocean View Beach Bunnies Red Hat Society; Coordinator for Elderhostel/Road Scholar programs sponsored by Delaware Tech. Comm. College; former Auditor and Bicentennial Committee Chairperson for West Hanover Twp.; Chaired two National Conventions for the 82nd ABN Div. Assoc. headquarters in Fayetteville, NC. Nancy also worked for WITF in its early years; she was an Assistant for Promotion and Development. In fact, her first airplane ride was to Washington DC to pick up Hubert Humphrey for a broadcast. She also volunteered with Hospice of Central PA and enjoyed travel & pinochle. Nancy's most cherished moments were watching her children mature as responsible young adults. Nancy is survived by; daughter, Dawn (John) Heiselman of Middletown; daughter, Lynne Laudermilch of Hershey; son, Stephen (Mary Ellen) Stewart of Wellsville, PA; son, Anthony J. (Donna) Stewart of Harrisburg, PA; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by husband, John "Lou" Stewart; son, W. Richard Stewart; and sisters, Mary Ann Yurkanin and Madeline Ball. Thomas was born in Strausstown, PA, on July 1, 1932 to Arthur H. and Pauline (Longsderff) Nolt and was raised in Lititz. Preceding him in death were brothers Arthur Nolt Jr of Texas, Reginald Nolt of Conestoga, and sister Pauline Kamm of Lititz. He is survived by his older brother Richard Nolt and wife Lin Yin of Lancaster, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Tom enlisted in the Army after high school and met his wife, Marion Rose Skotek, during that time. Happily married for almost 60 years, they resided in Hershey where Tom was employed by G.R. Sponaugle and Sons for over 35 dedicated years as a Superintendent in the electrical and plumbing fields. Thomas is survived by two daughters, Linda N. Naugle, married to David Naugle, of Mt. Holly Springs Pa; and Cynthia Ann Lepperd, married to Michael K. Lepperd of Carlisle; two grandsons; Kristoffer Jon Morris and his wife Jessica from East Waterford, Pa; Jonathan Michael Lepperd of Carlisle; and his beloved dog Chloe. In 2004, Tom and Marion moved to Carlisle Pa to be closer to their daughters. Tom took up golfing and bowling, and in earlier years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with friends. He was a great husband, fantastic father, and a reliable friend always willing to lend a hand to anyone. He will be sadly missed. Viewing will be held on Tuesday evening March 21st from 6-8pm and also Wednesday morning March 22nd from 9:30-10:30am in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Rt 422 and Lucy Avenue, Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue in Hershey on Wednesday at 11:00 am with burial to follow at the Hershey Cemetery.
