Alma R. Hopstetter, 87, of Harrisburg and formerly of Palmyra and Lebanon passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 peacefully surrounded by her family.
Born May 20, 1930 in Hegins, she was a daughter of the late Allen J. and Sadie A. (Stutzman) Artz and the widow of Robert G. Hopstetter to whom she was married for 43 years prior to his death in July 1993. Retired from Everite Knitting Mills, Lebanon, she was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. She was a gifted seamstress who took pride in making three wedding gowns for family members, quilts, floppy-eared cross stitch bunnies, hand embroidered pillow cases and one-of-a-kind outfits for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing pinochle. Surviving are her children George A., husband of Catherine Hopstetter of Conestoga, Janett L., wife of Dennis Peiffer of Palmyra, and Robert A. Hopstetter, fiancé to Sharon Blake of Harrisburg; brother Allen, husband of Kay Artz of Cressona; grandchildren Amy Epps, Jennifer Brandt, Heath Hopstetter, Katie Foreman, Tara Malpica and Christopher Hopstetter; and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey with interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Viewings 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday and 9:30 – 10:30 AM Tuesday both at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra. Deborah A. Sinex, 62, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 3, 2017. She was born in Abington, PA to the late Anna (Narcisi) and Joseph Cannon. Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Harry Robert Sinex; her daughter, Tamarah Lynn Iwan (Bob); her siblings, Dawn McGhee, Kathy Yobs (Bob) and Shawn Cannon (Christine); and several nieces and nephews. Debbie was preceded in death by her brother in law, James McGhee, III.
Debbie grew up north of Philadelphia in Roslyn, and later in Warminster Pennsylvania. Debbie met Rob while attending William Tennent High School in a candle factory, married him in 1978, and lived as a military wife in Dover, Delaware, Rantoul, Illinois and Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida over a period of 8 years. Debbie and Rob returned to Warminster/Warrington, Pennsylvania in 1983 and then lived happily in Hummelstown/Hershey Pennsylvania for 28 years. In her professional life, Debbie worked at Asplundh, Prudential Insurance, American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP) in Elizabethtown as the Convention Manager, and then 12 years as the rooms inventory manager for the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel. Debbie made life-long friends that she cherished at AAMP and the Sheraton who have proven to be the best and most honorable friends anyone could ask for. Debbie's childhood friend, Sherri Thatcher has been a soul mate since Debbie and Sherri were children and they stayed in touch through all of her years and especially since the illness that eventually took her. Debbie's daughter Tammy, has been the light of her life, her purpose for being here, for 32 wonderful years. Tammy learned how to be caring, kind and loving from the most beautiful person in the world. Debbie loved life, loved her family and friends, and thanked God for every breath given to her. For that, God gave her his grace and his mercy all of her life. Debbie believed she will be living with angels in heaven and will be patiently waiting for him to call the rest of us home to be with her again. Debbie's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday Dec. 19, 2017 from 10 to 11:30 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey, PA 17033. Lazur, 78, of Hershey, and formerly of Hometown, passed away Sunday in Hershey.
Born in Still Creek, he was a son of the late John G. and Sophie M. Wronsky Lazur. He was a member of St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, Barnesville. John was a graduate of Marian High School, Class of 1957, and the University of North Carolina, Class of 1966. He was a Marine Corps veteran. Prior to retiring, he was the proprietor of John J. Lazur, CPA, accounting offices of Tamaqua. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his son, Christopher R. Lazur, and brother, Joseph J. Lazur. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Susan M. Shickora Lazur; son, John M. Lazur and wife, Mary, Hometown; daughters, Susan T. Sinton and husband, Kevin, Lake Hauto, Cynthia Herr and husband, Eric, New Hope, Lisa Frederick and husband, David, New Ringgold, Ranee Reilly and husband, Scott, Hershey, and Anjuanita Lazur, Hershey; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Lazur and wife, Louise, Anchorage, Alaska; sister-in-law, Aleta Phillips, Maryland; nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from Damiano Funeral Home, Blaine and Cleveland streets, McAdoo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Richard R.C. Klimovsky, 85, of Lebanon, PA passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017. He was the husband of the late Mary Lou (Frazier) Klimovsky. Born in Lebanon, PA on July 13, 1932, Edward was a son of the late John and Julia Klimovsky.
Edward was an airplane mechanic in the United States Air Force. He was then employed as an airplane mechanic at the old Myerstown Airport, Hershey Airport, and Harrisburg Airport. He was also employed at Penn National Race Course in the admission department. After retiring he was employed by Hershey Chocolate World, Royers Flower Shop, and Giant Foods. Edward was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church, Hershey, a former member of St. Benedict the Abbot Church, Lebanon and a graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School. He enjoyed betting the horses, watching sci-fi movies, scratching lottery tickets, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies. Surviving are his six children, Gregory Klimovsky, Robert Klimovsky, Julieann Newill, Barbara Koropchak, Paula Tomassini, and Andrea Cray; 15 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at St. Benedict's Church, 1300 Lehman St., Lebanon, PA 17046. Mandes, 94, of Willow Valley Retirement Community in Lancaster County and formerly of Hershey, passed away on November 25, 2017 in the Lancaster General Hospital . He was born May 4, 1923 in Philadelphia , a son of the late Luigi and Amalia Savastio Mandes.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and retired from Derry Township School District after 35 years as an English/ French/Spanish teacher. Mr. Mandes was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie Davis Mandes. He is survived by: son, David D. (Sally) Mandes of Hatboro, PA; daughter, Susan Mandes (Stan) Simpler of Harrisburg, PA; grandchildren, Amy Simpler, Kyle Mandes and Adriene Darby; great grandchildren, Andrew J. Simpler and Matix Darby. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Theodore and Hugo Mandes. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 30th from 9:00am – 10:00am, in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Hershey. She was born April 26, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Ernst and Adelgunda (Schroeder) Holst.
She had been employed at the New York Telephone Company and the Hershey Medical Center and eventually retired as a receptionist from the PA Employee Benefit Retirement Trust Fund. Alma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. In June of 1958 she married her husband, Joseph R. Delia and shared 59 years of wonderful friendship and marriage. Also surviving are her daughter, Karen (Gregorio) Delia‑Mendoza of Ramona, CA and son, Richard S. (Rebecca) Delia of Hershey; grandsons, Justice H. Mendoza and Enzo C. Delia as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday December 1st from 9:00‑10:00am in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Hershey. Born on November 26, 1998, Meghan was the sister and best friend of Rachael C. Johnson of Hummelstown, the daughter of Stephanie M. Pucak Johnson and Ken Hollingsworth of Hummelstown, and the daughter of Scott A. Johnson of Elizabethtown. Meghan is survived by her maternal grandmother, Joanne C. Pucak, widow of the late Dr. George J. Pucak, of Chapel Hill, NC, paternal grandparents, Marlin C. and Judy A. Johnson of McVeytown, PA, aunt and uncle, Kathy and Sam MacDonald, and cousins, Tori (20), Colin (17), and Makenzie (6) all of Holly Springs, NC, a large extended family and many dear friends. Meghan graduate from Lower Dauphin High School in June of this year. She excelled academically, maintaining membership in the National Honor Society, English Honor Society, and the Science Honor Society. Meghan held the position of President in several on campus clubs including Student Council, Volunteen, Drama Club, and the Women’s Select Choir. She was a mentor through Club Ophelia and Camp Ophelia and volunteered her extra time to working with children at the community library. Meghan was on the 2016 LDHS Homecoming Court and a contestant in the 2016 Miss Hummelstown pageant. Meghan was an amazing vocalist who was active not only in high school musicals and theatre productions, but also performed in many community theatre productions. She had recently been nominated for an Apollo Award for her outstanding theatrical performance as Martha Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace. Meghan was a soloist for many high school and community events and loved everything about the theatre, often traveling to New York City to attend Broadway Shows. Passionate about cancer awareness and research, Meghan was a captain of the LDHS Mini-Thon and an advocate for the Four Diamonds Fund, even before being diagnosed herself. She volunteered to share her story at various area schools and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Some of her favorite pastimes included being with her little sister Rachael, shopping, writing music, buying shoes, listening to Taylor Swift, watching The Golden Girls, and spending time with her many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 27, 2017, at 1:00 pm. The service will be held at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, with The Rev. Fr. Alfred P. Sceski and The Rev. Fr. Modestus Ngwu as celebrants. Born Tuesday, February 2, 1932 in Hershey, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria Francesca (Plebani) Ceresini. She was married to the late Algino E. Pasquini.
She is survived by a daughter, Vicki A. Caloiero, wife of Joseph and a son, Vincent G. Pasquini, husband of Carole, both of Hershey. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Joseph, Vincent Gino, John-Paul, Frances, Vincent Gabriel and Nicholas; two great granddaughters, Lilia and Evie Rose as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Rose Moyer and two brothers, Paul and Antonio Ceresini. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033 with Father Modestus Ngwu, O.P., as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Hershey Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held following the Mass on Friday. Michael was born May 19, 1951 in Hershey to Jack Hugendubler and the late Mary Green Hugendubler.
He is survived by his four children, Wade Hugendubler, Heather Simonetti, Heide Grove, and Chad Hugendubler and 9 grandchildren; his father Jack Hugendubler; siblings, Mary Biffel, William Hugendubler, Kathleen Thomas, John Hugendubler, Theresa Winfindale, David Hugendubler, Daniel Hugendubler, and Lisa Russek. Huggie grew up in a large loving family. He worked at the H.B. Reese Candy Company since 1969. Huggie loved to read and had a thirst for knowledge. His travels took him all over, including Europe. He had many adventures exploring the Chesapeake on his boat. Huggie was a beloved friend and resident with the Kuhn Family. Visitation will be Friday November 17th from 10:30am-12:30pm at the Hoover Funeral Home and Crematory in Hershey. He graduated from St Joseph's Prep School in Philadelphia. After U.S. Naval service in WWII; he graduated from University of Pennsylvania - Wharton School of Business and Temple Law School. He practiced law in Philadelphia before joining Dauphin Management Corporation in Harrisburg. He was a distinguished member of the Philadelphia Bar Association for 66 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Marie "Mitzi" (nee-Walters) Hines; 3 sons, John III, (Nancy), Kenneth, (Catherine), and Stephen, (Laurie); daughters Joanne Brody, (Melvin), Suzanne Ney, (Marshall) and Cathleen Kaiser, (Gregory); 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. A requiem mass will be celebrated by Father Al Sceski on Friday, November 10th, at 11AM in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave. in Hershey. The family will receive guests prior to the mass from 9 – 10:30AM in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, 88 Lucy Ave. in Hershey. Interment will be private in Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.
