Sarah L. (Sally) Kaiser, 89, of Hershey, PA, passed away on March 13, 2019 at Columbia Cottage, Palmyra, PA, where she received loving and compassionate care for two years. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard D. Kaiser, M.D., with whom she shared 63 years of marriage, on November 26, 2018.
Sally was born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late William Loughrey and Anna (Hallinan) Loughrey. The daughter of Irish immigrants, she graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls H. S. in Philadelphia (’47) and earned a B.A. from Immaculata University (‘51). Following graduation, she taught elementary students in the School District of Philadelphia. After leaving education, she happily assumed the role of full-time homemaker, then served as receptionist and bookkeeper for her husband’s family medical practice operated from their home. Mrs. Kaiser was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey. She was devoted to God, her Catholic faith and family. She held strong convictions, loved and hosted family gatherings, enjoyed travel and reading, was highly organized, and possessed an inventory of one-liners to persuade her children. Though avoiding the limelight for herself, she embraced the role of best supporting actress in categories of wife, mother, grandmother, pet-sitter and various other roles in which she was called to serve. Mrs. Kaiser is survived by her six children, Margaret Kaiser Collins, Reading, PA, Gerard D. Kaiser, Jr. (Mary Jane), St. Louis, MO, Gregory J. Kaiser (Cathleen), Hummelstown, PA, Francis M. Kaiser (Kathleen), Havertown, PA, James A. Kaiser (Cristina), Shaker Heights, OH, Ellen “Nellie” McGrew (Lawrence), Collingswood, NJ, two sisters, Nora Grogan, Media, PA, and Anne (Henry) Schneider, Ocean City, NJ. She was Grandmom or MomMom to fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren around the country. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Mary, a son-in-law, Edward M. Collins, III, two brothers, William Loughrey and John Loughrey, four sisters, Rita Gilson, Marguerite Stout, Sr. Mary Loughrey, I.H.M. and Julia Mangan, and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Angie Loughrey, Ruth Loughrey, Edward Gilson, William Grogan, Richard Stout, and Francis Mangan. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033 on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Viewing will be Friday, March 15, 2019 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Hoover Funeral Home, 88 Lucy Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033, with recitation of the Rosary at 4:15 p.m. Private interment will be at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA. (1922-2019) Violet Zambernardi, 96, formerly of Hummelstown, passed away on March 10, 2019, in the West Palm Beach Charles W. Gerstenberg Care Center, Florida.
She will be greatly missed. Vi had a vibrant personality and a quick wit to match. She loved books and was an avid reader. Vi had a wonderful talent for telling stories about the family history that would bring characters to life and keep you hanging on every word. She was a loving aunt who was much loved and is survived by her two nephews Mike Ficco and Calvin Wagner and her niece Erika Ellyett. Vi will be laid to rest beside her late husband Rad. A Prayer service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Fr. Kenneth C. Roth of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church as officiant. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. Friends are invited to the viewing in the funeral home on Saturday from 10 AM until time of the service. Online condolences may be shared at www.trefzandbowser.com James William Grap, age 72 of Palmyra, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his adoring family on February 14, 2019.
Jim was born on November 17, 1946 in Catonsville, Maryland, son of the late William and Mildred Grap. He graduated from Catonsville Senior High School in 1965, and received his B.S. from the University of Baltimore and his MBA from Penn State Harrisburg. Jim was an Air Force Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War and was recognized for outstanding service. Jim relocated to Hershey where he began a distinguished career at the Hershey Company in 1976. He retired as the Director of Logistics after 38 years. Jim was a devout member of St. Joan of Arc Church. Jim was generous in life, always willing to give fully of himself. Family and friends knew Jim to have a quiet strength and lead by example. His greatest joy in life was his family. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Mary Grap of Palmyra, his children William Grap and wife Shannon, Elizbeth Fritz and husband Caleb, James Grap, Katie Needham and husband Keith, Emily Grap and Mary Ellen Grap, his grandchildren Avery and Evan Grap, Michael, Maria, Gabriel and Matthew Fritz. Jim is survived by his brother Edward Grap and wife Yvonne. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 19th from 5-7pm in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory in Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 20th at 10:30am in his church at 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey. He was born September 3, 1930 in Scranton, son of the late Edward and Agnes (Size) Connolly.
Dan was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the Hershey American Legion #386. He loved to travel, especially cruises and spending time in Florida during the winter months. Mr. Connolly is survived by his wife, Rosemary Russell-Connolly; sons, Michael, Daniel and David Connolly; daughter, Karen Coghlan; stepson, John Russell; brother, James Connolly; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret (Martin) Connolly. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 12 Noon in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey. The family will visit with friends after the mass. Private interment with military honors will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. He was born January 9, 1928 in Menominee, MI, son of Walter Everson and Mabel Everson. Charles was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey; a US Army veteran of World War II and an American Legion Member. He had worked in the meat industry for many years until retiring from HERCO in 1993. He enjoyed hunting, water skiing, boating and spending time at his summer home on the Susquehanna River. Charles is survived by; son, Michael Shane Everson; brothers, Eugene and Douglas Everson; close family friend, Dawn Moberg and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Joyce (Klaver) Everson; a brother, Henry Everson; sisters, Pamela Everson, Myrtle Barcewsk and Lois Linsmeier. Guerrisi Bricker, 89, of Hummelstown, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Harrisburg on May 19, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Giovanna Sorrento Guerrisi. Josephine retired as a Secretary from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry; and was a trained seamstress and tailor. She was a 1947 graduate of the former Harrisburg Catholic High School. Josephine was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church where she served on the Council of Catholic Women, and was a member of its Resurrection Choir, Knitting Ministry and Areba Club. A true ice hockey fan, she rarely missed watching a Philadelphia Flyers game, and for many years would darn the socks of the Hershey Bears after every game. Josephine enjoyed knitting, but especially found joy in cooking and baking for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry A. “Henner” “Babes” Bricker, on Monday, July 28, 2008; three sisters, Bettina Guerrisi, Helen Brown, and Sr. Gertrude; and four brothers, John, Jerry, Richard and Frank Guerrisi. Josephine is survived by one daughter, Nancy L. Popp wife of Joseph E. of Hummelstown; one son, Harry A. Bricker of Sicklerville, NJ; four granddaughters, Rachael J. Hall wife of Jarrod of Charleroi, Jessica R. Fegley wife of Jamey of Harrisburg, Jennifer L. Gingrich wife of Joseph of Lewisberry, and Hayley A. Bricker of Voorhees, NJ; and nine great grandchildren, Mackenzie Hall, Tyler Hall, Riley Fegley, Addison Fegley, Carter Fegley, Peyton Fegley, Parker Fegley, Wesley Gingrich and Elena Gingrich. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 10:30 AM in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, with The Rev. Fr. Kenneth C. Roth as celebrant. Interment will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. "Frank" Bolduc, 91, of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 29, 2019 at his home. He was born January 31, 1927 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, son of the late Clodio and Gertrude Maloney Bolduc.
He was a 1944 graduate of Woonsocket High School, where he was the Senior Class President. He received his B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of Rhode Island and was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. Frank was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran who was then recalled for service during the Korean War. He began his career as the Personnel Director for the city of Woonsocket. Frank then served as the Director of the Red Bank New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and went on the become the Executive Director of the New Jersey State Bar Association. During his long tenure as the Executive Director of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Frank distinguished himself for his ability to expand the scope and nature of the Association. In recognition of his leadership skills, Frank was honored to be elected President of the National Association of Bar Executives. In retirement, he served as the Manager of Lower Paxton Township. Frank was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey, where he served on the Parish Council. He volunteered with Hershey Medical Center, where he was a beloved presence in the Ronald McDonald Family Room for over 11 years. In addition, he spent many years bringing smiles to those he visited while serving Meals on Wheels. Francis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Abrants Bolduc of Hummelstown; daughters, Jayne Duncan and her husband William of Elizabethtown, Mary C. Bolduc of Hershey, Kathy McNally and her partner Greg Reese of Leesburg, VA, grandson Benjamin Duncan and his wife Caitlin of Hershey, granddaughter Emily Duncan of Philadelphia; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Bolduc and sister-in law, Muriel Levesque Bolduc. Frank's family would like to extend sincere thanks to the caring staff at the Lebanon V.A. Medical Center. Also, special thanks to Dr. Charles Dye and Dr. Ricardo Bedoya for their kindness and compassion during Frank's illness. John was born to parents, Guy and Rose Sachette, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
While attending Lycoming College, he met the love of his life, Sylvia “Siber” Searfoss . Though he went on to become a USMC 1st Lieutenant after college, John returned home to marry “Siber “ while working as an account executive for United Airlines followed by years with Pulte Homes. John and Sylvia shared great times in their pair of Austin-Healey convertibles, traveling the world, starting a family in Georgia, eventually moving to Hershey, Pennsylvania. John (Sacchetti) found his home in the Italian community of Hershey as an active member at the Hershey Italian Lodge and the Saint Joan of Arc Parish. John is survived by two children, Kelly and her husband Greg McCarty of Owings Mills, MD and Burke Sachette of Hershey. Also a cherished grandson, Max McCarty and very dear friends. Services will be held on Friday, January 25th at 12:00pm in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Hershey. Visitation will be from 11:00am until time of service.
