![]() Erma Anne Perri, 89, formerly of Palmyra, died May 2nd after a lengthy battle with vascular dementia. She was a resident of Potomac Valley Nursing Home in Rockville, Maryland. She was born on August 28, 1930, in Lebanon County to the late Jacob and Florence Brandt. Mrs. Perri was a graduate of Hershey High School and received her nursing degree from St. Francis School of Nursing, now a part of the University of Pittsburgh. Her nursing career took her to several different states and hospitals, and she worked for many years in radiation oncology and psychiatry, including more than 20 years at Hershey Medical Center, before retiring in 1994. Throughout her career, she was also a frequent volunteer at Red Cross blood banks, and she worked with the Peace Corps for one year in the Philippines. Survivors include five children and nine grandchildren: daughter Lynne Perri and husband Robert Barnes of Silver Spring, Maryland, and their children Abigail (Scott Kaczmarek) of Millbrae, California, and Grace Barnes of Washington, D.C.; daughter Karla Perri and husband Ben Matarese and their children, Brendan, of Arlington, Virginia, and Emilie Matarese of Tucson, Arizona; daughter Eileen Perri and husband Joe Koons and their children Ethan and Chloe of Alexandria, Virginia.; daughter Jeanmarie and husband Richard Morton of Tallahassee, Florida, and their children, Julia Morton, of New York, New York, and Daniel (Mary Kate) Morton of Johnson City, Tennessee; and son Leilyn and wife Michele and their son Matthew of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her brother, Jacob, and wife Dorothy of Annville, and brother Roger of Mount Joy, and many beloved nieces and nephews. A private burial will be held in Annville, with a celebration of her life planned for later in the year. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to the Association of Faculty and Friends of the Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center. Hoover Funeral Home of Hershey handled the arrangements.

Marie T. (O’Keefe) Conway, 95, of Tinton Falls NJ and formerly of Hershey PA passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020. She was born January 29, 1925 in Manhattan, NY, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary (Keane) O’Keefe.
Marie served in the Marine’s during World War II. She was a home maker and also had been employed as a secretary for Sisters of the Good Shephard and the Franciscan Friars of Atonement at Graymoor. While in Hershey, she was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church and volunteered at the Hershey Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Richard J. Conway. Surviving are her 5 sons, Richard M. Conway of Peekskill, NY, Michael C. (Anne) Conway of Hyattsville, MD, Major Patrick T. (Gloria) Conway of Jacksonville, FL, Daniel J. (Kristine) Conway of Fairfax, VA, John E. (Rose Marie) Conway of Hastings on Hudson, NY; 2 daughters, Mary Martin of Summerville, NC and Brigid Conway of Union Beach, NJ, 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; Private interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Friars of the Atonement, Garrison NY. Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. of Hershey is handling arrangements. Alvesta (Vae) Tancredi, a life-long resident of Hershey, passed away on April 4, 2020, at the age of 105 years.
Born July 26, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Iroldo and Latina (Loffreda) Pera. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel N. Tancredi and siblings, Nancy Bruscia and Albert Pera. Alvesta was very active most of her life. She had a wide range of friends from all ages, and very much enjoyed spending time with them, which would frequently include traveling, dinners, musical events and movies. During her early adult years she designed and sewed most of her clothes. She loved the art of designing dresses and suits. As she got older she transformed this passion into painting pictures of people, scenes and flowers with watercolors and oil. In addition, she enjoyed cooking and baking—people loved her biscotti!!—as well as participating in exercise classes, dancing, and volunteering at the Hershey Medical Center. Alvesta is survived by sons Robert and Laurence Tancredi; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date. Private internment took place at the Hershey Cemetery. Ingaglio, 95, of Hummelstown, formerly of the Philadelphia area and Marmora, NJ, passed away on March 20, 2020 at home. She was born June 21, 1924 in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Capizzi. She had attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey. Geraldine is survived by daughters: Francene (Ingaglio) Shiffler (and husband, Paul) and Marie (Ingaglio) Zuravic (and husband, Dennis); grandchildren: John Shiffler (and wife, Karen) and Matthew Shiffler (and wife, Rosalie); great-grandchildren: Andrew, Peter, Elizabeth, Timothy, Zachary, Jude, Kaylee, and James. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Diego A. Ingaglio and siblings Joseph, Phillip and Pauline. A private graveside service will take place in the Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery in New Jersey. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date. She was born March 10, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late Michael C. Sr. and Ruth M. (Fenning) Tushup. Ruth was a graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School and Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where she was the organist for many years and sang in both the Adult and Resurrection Choirs and taught Music at it's school. Ruth was a piano teacher at Lebanon Valley College Community Music Institute and also taught at Tierney Music Studio. She was a concert pianist and had played with the West Shore Symphony and The Wednesday Club of Harrisburg. Other memberships include the Legion of Mary; PA Music Teachers Association; The Wednesday Club of Harrisburg; and the Third Order Franciscan Fraternity of St. Thomas More. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Francis P. Tierney, Jr. in 2011. Ruth is survived by: daughters; Mary Catherine Tierney and Margi (Fred) Leiss; sons; Francis P. (Tanya) Tierney III; Dr. Michael Tierney; Dr. Matthew (Michelle) Tierney; and Richard (Veronica ) Tierney; brothers, Michael Jr., Steven and Dr. Richard Tushup; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held in the Hoover Funeral Home of Hershey on Saturday, March 7th from 10-11:30AM. "Dick" Zimmerman, 84, of Hershey, passed away on February 23, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 1, 1935 in Sharon, PA, son of the late Anthony and Rita (McCarthy) Zimmerman. A graduate of John Harris High School, Mr. Zimmerman had worked for 32 years until retiring as a plant manager from the former Republic Steel Corp. in Harrisburg. After retiring, he had also ran his own courier service business. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus; and the Hershey Italian Lodge. He was a proud U.S. Marine that served on the U.S.S. Missouri. Dick is survived by his wife, Virginia (Gusic) Zimmerman; daughter, Mary Ann (Dirk) Dayton; daughter, Lori (Bob, Jr.) McClintock; and grandchildren, Alexis and Zachary McClintock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James and William. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 27th at 11AM in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests at 10AM. Hershey Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Harrisburg on December 1, 1937, he was the son of the late William F. and Kathryn Ulrich Bitting. Don retired from United States Postal Service where he worked as a window clerk in the Highspire Office. He was a 1955 graduate of the former Harrisburg Catholic High School. Don served with the Army National Guard. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, Hershey. Don thoroughly enjoyed race cars especially drag racing in his younger days. He was a former Little League baseball and basketball coach; and played slow-pitch softball for many years. Most important to Don was spending time with his grandchildren who totally adored him. To them, Don was not just a grandpa, he was "Pop". Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara F. Guth Bitting, of whom he married on November 10, 1962; two sons, Donald P. Bitting of Phoenix, AZ, and David F. Bitting husband of Tracey of Hummelstown; one daughter, Jodi Ann Polly wife of Timothy of West Hanover Township; six grandchildren, Morgan Bitting, Bret Bitting, Brianna Polly, Allison Bitting, Brooke Polly, and Paige Bitting; and one sister, Doris Jean Heintzelman of Camp Hill. Mediate, 92, of Harrisburg, Pa passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. He was born in Wall, Pa. to Santo and Maria Elena Mediate. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Anne Mediate, his children Mark Mediate of Boston, MA and Monica McCabe(Bernie)of Ambler, PA , his grandchildren Alexandra Mediate, Brandon Mediate, Stephen McCabe, Emma McCabe. He is also survived by his sister Catherine Divens, Annapolis, Md. Frank was a kind, gentle and unconditionally loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He spent much of his life volunteering in the Church and for Contact Helpline. He loved music and sang with the Harrisburg Choral Society and in his church choir. He was an avid sports fan, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and loved playing golf. After serving in the US Navy he attended and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS Degree in Engineering. He retired as an Engineering Manager with AMP Inc. Following retirement Frank drove for the Hershey Trolley Works for 13 years and had the title Motorman Emeritus a job he absolutely loved. Lastly, he fulfilled his dream of having a farm. An experience filled with so many traditions and blessings. McQuate, 63, of Niles, Ohio, formerly of Hershey, passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2020. She was born August 7, 1956 in Hershey and was preceded in death by parents, Mark and Barbara McQuate and brother, David McQuate. Sharon is survived by her sister, Susan (Donald) Robison of Hershey; niece, Nichole (Kelly) Fogarty; nephew, Theodore "Ted" Robison; great niece & nephews, Johnny, Jake and Olivia Fogarty; and Aunt, Pearl Klinger.

Henry, Jr. passed away Thursday, January 2, 2020 at The Hershey Medical Center with his wife, Jackie by his side. Officer Henry was born on September 6, 1969 in Harrisburg, PA. A 1987 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School he loved Hummelstown and the many friendships he made. Following High School, Michael joined the Army and was a member of the 4th of the 9th Field Artillery Delta Battery stationed in Germany from 1987-1990 where he had an honorable discharge to pursue his passion for law enforcement, specifically Derry Township Police Department. He was a 1996 graduate of Penn State University with a BS in Criminal Justice, and a 1997 graduate of the 68th Pennsylvania State Police Academy where he was Class President. He continued his love for the military with his service in the PA Army National Guard until 1995. Michael’s life passion was service. He began working at HersheyPark as a security officer, and Derry Township as a Community Service Officer from 1995-1998. Michael was proud to then continue his service with Derry Township as a Patrol Officer for 21years. Throughout his law enforcement career, he served as a MCSAP (Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program) Inspector; a member of the Traffic Safety Unit (Accident Reconstruction); and his final and proudest achievement was becoming a member of the Derry Township Police Motorcycle Unit. He was past Commander of the Hershey American Legion Post #386, a member of Mount Lebanon Lodge #226 F&AM, and St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church. His family was his number one priority. He loved spending time with his wife, Jackie, and two children. He took great pride in watching his daughter, Samantha, compete in collegiate gymnastics for Kent State University and his son, Zachary, play Hershey Youth Flag Football and ice hockey for Hershey, and The Palmyra Black Knights. He also loved vacationing with his family and friends during beach trips, camping outings and sporting events. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Jackie (Brown) Henry and their two children, Samantha and Zachary; and his in-laws, Richard & Loretta Brown. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Visiting hours will be held from 1-3pm and 5:30-7:30pm on Tuesday January 7th in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, 88 Lucy Avenue, Hershey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am on Wednesday January 8th in the St. Joan Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will be private.
